Preparing for training

Chris leaves on the predawn flight out of Minot on Sunday morning, so he's been super busy trying to get ready for this first training at Fort Huachaua in Arizona (near Sierra Vista). He leaves Sunday, August 3rd and returns late on the 22nd.
He has had to get a bunch of new uniforms and go to briefing after briefing.
The day before yesterday I went to one of the briefings at Airman and Family Readiness. Chris and I already had prepared for most of the information that was presented, but it was nice to hear it all again in one hour without any interruptions. This base is very well prepared to take care of the families of deployed airmen. There's daycare available to me, as well as free oil changes and reduced fee snow removal (woo hoo!). My favorite, at the end of the presentation, we got a Sesame Street DVD where Elmo explains to children what it means to have a parent deploy. We haven't watched it yet...I'm a little afraid I'll be too emotional, but I'm sure we'll do it soon.
Chris is off right now at a physical. My mother-in-law, Lisa, came for a visit for about a week and a half and she and I are hanging out with David. I'm glad Lisa is here, it's nice to have her level presence in the house. We're also taking lots of pictures, some of which I'll get up on this soon.
