A bend in the road

I had decided not to blog about what has been happening in Chris' career until we had resolution and had a definitive answer, but well, the definitive answer at this point is that the definitive answer is months away and I can't wait that long to let this all out.
So, everyone saw or heard about how three missilers fell asleep while guarding classified stuff here in Minot? Well, if you haven't, read this:
http://www.airforcetimes.com/news/2008/07/airforce_minot_080408w/
Our lives have totally changed because of it.
Chris is NOT one of the four missilers involved directly, but there has been fallout for him.
First, the deployment that Chris is going on was open because one of the officers involved was suppose to go and cannot because of the incident.
Second, Chris has received some punishment from the Air Force for the incident because he is part of their chain of leadership and certain people think there's something that he could have done to prevent this. Let me say that, for what it's worth, those people are completely and totally out of their minds.
Right now we are not sure what the extent of the punishment will be or how it will effect Chris' future in the Air Force. It is more likely than it ever has been that Chris will not make the military a career. We've had a "plan B" in place for at least two years and are not worried about employment, but it is truly heartbreaking to have plan A start to look so very unappealing.
Because of press coverage like the above I don't feel comfortable getting into any more details. Know that this has been an incredibly stressful time for our family and that what is happening is unjust, unreasonable and painful.
To add more to our already overtaxed emotions, there have been fellow missilers in Chris' squadron who have not reacted well to the news of Chris' deployment. Acting out of what I can only guess is jealousy, we have received some cruel and harsh comments from a minority of people who think that Chris should not have volunteered to deploy and that they should have been the one deploying. (It's so bad here that they would rather be deployed than be here.)
I tell you all this because I need a couple of things. I need those who love us to know how many layers of pain and stress we are feeling because I need all your empathy and all the prayers you can say that God will help us.

You've got it! Empathy and prayer support. I'm praying for you guys all day today and adding you to every prayer list we've got going! It's not fair what's happening and the minority of idiots ARE just jealous. From what I read in the news about this incident, what in the @!$%@# world could Chris have done about it??!!!! Use his psychic powers???? That's just looney!
