Busy with Grandma

David and I have had a great time during Lisa's visit.
We've been SO busy with Grandma Lisa during the past couple of days I haven't updated the blog like I wanted to, so this might be a little long. Lisa left this afternoon so now I've got the time to update :-)
David inspects the sunflower.
We have gone all over Minot and the base the past couple of days. My mother-in-law loves some of the stores in Minot so we HAD to do some shopping and that meant we HAD to eat in town and HAD to get some Starbucks. It's been a lot of fun.
Last summer when Lisa was here she wanted to get some pictures of David with the sunflowers (there are fields and fields of them in North Dakota), but it didn't work out. Yesterday we were finally able to get some good shots of David exploring the sunflower fields.

Our newly decorated yard!

Lisa helped me get some real flowers planted in the flower bed a previous owner carved out in our front lawn. I've had the three metal "roses" up in the flower bed for the past year, growing in a bed of weeds. It's nice to see something pretty there and it sure looks nice driving up to the house. In the picture you can also see the yellow ribbon we tied to the downspout of the gutter ... we don't have any trees that are totally in our yard and not our neighbors yard.

David pets the deer at the Roosevelt Park Zoo.

One of my goals for the summer was to take David to the zoo in Minot at least once. This morning we finally did! David had a blast and the zoo was actually pretty darn good considering the size and location of Minot. David really enjoyed all the animals that he recognized from books we read to him (the sheep that nibbled on his stroller was a big favorite, as was the brown bear swimming). He sat in his stroller and smiled and stared at all the animals, especially if he could get up close to them, like the deer in the above picture. The best moment of the day was his encounter with some geese. He stared and smiled at them, while they hissed at him. After a couple of minutes, his smile got wider and then he hissed back at the geese. It was hilarious.
