Timmy has a lot of his physical therapy appointments mid morning off base. We drive by one of the base elementary schools on the way there.
When school started a couple of weeks ago David went wide-eyed at the sight of the children on the playground.
He said, "I want to go play with the kids."
I explained that it was for the children in kindergarten and that he could go and play there when he was five.
He replied, "I want to be five now."
Since then, at least a couple times a week he tells me or someone else that he wants to be five years old and go play with the "big kids."
Once, as a part of this conversation, he told me that Aladdin (from the Disney movie) is a big big kid. He's "ten year old."
I wonder how old that makes me.
Yesterday I asked David, "How old are you?"
He pointed to the number three on one of Timmy's toys.
Then I asked, "How old do you want to be?"
He pointed to the number five and said, "Then I'll be a big boy. I want to be a big boy now."
My heart tells me it'll come too soon.
