Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween from the Ewing family! Here are some of our pictures from the last couple of days. Chris and David all dressed up for Chris' squadron's kids Halloween party on Friday afternoon. The squadron decorated various parts of the building and the kids could walk through and trick or treat. Well, it was decorated for older kids than David and at first David was having no part of it. He called the entrance area "too spooky" and refused to go. Chris went to go see how scary it was as you were going through it and when he came back David was willing to go. (He told us "I be brave.") So we went through one hallway and one big office area, but that was enough for David. He got some candy, said thank you and was ready to go.
David covered his ears while Chris carved our pumpkin. I guess he thought it would be loud. While Chris carved David and I went through the pumpkin guts and got the seeds. David was not too sure about that though; he really didn't like the stickiness of the pumpkin guts.
Chris and David with the finished pumpkin.. Mickey Mouse! Chris gave David two choices: Mickey Mouse or Captain Hook and David chose Mickey.
David and I trick or treating last night. We went with our friends the Carmeans (David has trick or treated with them every year of his life so far!) and did a pretty big loop through base housing. David walked the entire way and did so good! We were out knocking on doors and getting candy for about an hour and half! David loved getting treats for his basket and said thank you to everyone (though, for some reason, he didn't want to say trick or treat to people...)
After spending last Halloween apart, with Chris in Iraq, it was an extra special day to spend together and be grateful we made it through last year. It's also kind of the unofficial kick off to celebrating the holidays as a family this year.
