In the last week or so he's started to make some good gains towards his physical milestones. Both his OT and his PT have been really impressed by his strength during his last appointments. It's like a light bulb went off in his head and he realized he could make his body do things. This morning I had him on the bathroom floor while I was getting ready and he rolled from his back onto his side and over so that his hips were flat on the floor, but he stayed there for like five minutes refusing to roll the rest of the way over (it's that huge head, I swear!). I finally pushed his shoulder like the therapists have showed me and you know what he did? He pushed back, like, no way, I'm NOT rolling over crazy mom-lady! I did persuade him to try it and he got himself up and on his tummy. That's the farthest he's ever gone toward rolling over from back to stomach by himself. It made my morning.
After a great OT session today we bought him an exercise ball to add to his strengthening routine, which should be fun for me and screamy for him. But he loves bouncing on the ball, so at least I can put a big smile on his face after we are done with his exercises.
Besides the physical stuff he is increasingly interactive, grabbing for things, crying for attention and out of boredom. Loving to play with his toys, especially if they made noise. We've added peas and carrots to his safe foods list and are working on squash this week. Yesterday was his first day of squash and about bite three he started pounding his little open hand on the high chair tray in frustration. He was telling me he didn't like the squash and he didn't want it. It was so cute seeing his little face all scrunched up in irritation.
