Moved In

On Friday morning David, my mother-in-law Lisa, and myself drove from Sacramento to Vandenberg AFB so that I could get a house on base. The original plan was to drive down on Sunday and get a house on Monday, but we heard from our truck driver (driving all of our household goods across the country) that he would like to deliver our things on Monday and if we didn't have a house then he might have to put our stuff in storage. Storage has a notoriously bad rap as being the place where things get broken or lost during a move. Also, once it's in storage you have to make an appointment to get your things delivered, which can be weeks after you call. So, down to VAFB we drove.

We got our house. And ironically enough it's across the street and two doors down from the house we lived in at VAFB 4 years ago. It's exactly the same floorplan as we lived in 4 years ago, but it's much better situated than our former home and the backyard is MUCH better.

Our household goods were delivered Monday without a problem. I've gotten a home phone and an appointment to get cable and broadband. Right now we're enjoying a long awaited family reunion with Chris' family and then it will be back to reality the end of next week. Eventually during this time I'll get some pictures posted of our cute new house.
