I had asked my friend Carolyn for some advanced potty training advice. Carolyn works with autistic kids, including potty training them. David isn't autistic but a lot of the training works the same way. It's called the Fox and Arzin method, but Carolyn and I have both been calling it "the potty party."
So, off we went later that day to the commissary to pick out some juice (to give David lots of peeing opportunities), some chips (because the salt will make him want to drink even more), and some Mickey Mouse Clubhouse gummy treats (as a reward).
The next morning, Wednesday, we started. Three and half days later David's doing very well while we are at home. He's had 3 total accidents, all on day one. My goal was to have him in underwear while we are at home and he is awake and he's achieved that already. We're using pull-ups during nap and bedtime and while we are out of the house. Twice now we've gone out and David has stayed completely dry and waited for us to get home to use his potty. The next two goals will be to have him tell me he needs to go potty, rather than me taking him to the bathroom every hour and to have him not go to the bathroom in his pull-ups upon waking from nap or in the morning.
He's been incredibly cute during this whole process. He gets very excited every time he uses the potty. He gets off the potty as soon as he is done and looks at his "achievement" and says one of a couple things:
"Wow"
"Oh my gosh"
or "You see that"
It's really cute. He also has gotten very good at taking the bucket out of his potty and dumping the contents into the toilet and flushing it.

Hahaha, I love the photos and am so glad for the update! I was just wondering today what kind of schedule you were on and how it was going. I'm so proud of you both ;)
