Learning how to have good days

Lisa left on Thursday and I was a real bum for the weekend. I did the absolute minimum of work that needed to get done.
This was compounded by my "alert" routine. When Chris is on alert for one or three days I don't go to sleep until I can't keep my eyes open. (Sometime around 1am, depending if there's a good late night movie on TV.) This was never a problem before because at the most he would be gone for three nights and then I would catch up on my sleep when he got home... Well, Chris is going to be gone for a lot longer than three nights.
I finally realized this when I woke up on Sunday morning and two cups of coffee saw me jittery and sleepy - not a good combination.
One good night sleep last night and I think I'm headed down a better road and today was definitely a good day.
I've REALLY wanted to get a DVR and a bigger cable channel package. Chris and I agreed that while he is gone I can get it. SO today the cable guy came and installed my DVR. Yippee! I LOVE it. I also get a bunch of channels that I'm very excited about, including some 24 hour preschool channels for David (now I don't have to watch the same 2 DVDs all winter long!) I felt even more spoiled when my step-mom and sister sent me a present from their recent trip to New York City. They got me a really special necklace that I immediately took out of the box and put on :-)
Tonight I went to a squadron's spouses social (David came with me and various wives took care of him throughout the night). It was great to get out and see everyone. We played Bunko and definitely had some silly laughs. It's good to have nights like this; the stress level up here right now is intense, so it's nice to have time to just relax with other wives who understand without saying a word.
Goofy David story: At the social there were some candles (blown out) stacked on top of each other at David's height. David decided to try to blow them out. He got a huge smile on his face after he breathed out on the candles. Like, hey, I know what those are for, Mommy blows on them, so I guess that's what I'm suppose to do when I see candles.
Oh, by the way, Chris spent the weekend golfing, eating, and seeing movies... it's nice to hear him relax a bit after all the pressure he's been under in Minot and about to be in while he is deployed.
